DUO-RECTORS

GHOST + COW is a directing duo composed of John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke, whose collaboration is responsible for multiple highly-acclaimed and widely seen music videos, shorts, commercials and branded content. Their first feature film entitled “Drunk Bus,” starring Charlie Tahan (Ozark), Kara Hayward (Moonrise Kingdom) and Will Forte World Premiered at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival in the Visions category and won BEST FEATURE and AUDIENCE AWARD at the 2020 San Diego Film Festival among many other awards. They’re currently in pre-production on their sophomore film.  

Prior to that, some of their work includes L1ZY, a hybrid short/music video made in collaboration with the artist Big Data that examines artificial intelligence technology gone wrong and was DIGG’s short of the week and a Vimeo Staff Pick. 

DRONE B0NING (11M views on Vimeo) made world news and garnered the attention of late-night hosts such as Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien and Seth Meyers; it was also featured in several print publications, shown on TMZ and posted on Banksy's YouTube page (which he had to promptly remove!).

They also have collaborated multiple times with Funny or Die, most recently with the skit THOUGHTS & PRAYERS featuring Darrell Hammond (SNL) that takes on this society’s unacceptable indifference to gun violence. 


Their music videos for Big Data's DANGEROUS (14M views on YouTube) and Joywave's IT’S A TRIP (2.2M views on YouTube) continue to have a massive fan following. Some other notable music videos and short film titles include GET STRICT for Yip Deceiver featuring Reggie Watts, and PLAYHOUSE (World Premiere at SXSW 2013 and a Vimeo Staff Pick with 146K views) and BUNNY BOY (2011 Slamdance, SXSW).  

They have also created numerous commercials and branded content, some of which have won major advertising awards such as a Silver Pencil for Direction at the One Show and best branded web film at ThinkLA’s Emerging Director’s Showcase. They were also recognized as SHOOT Magazine’s ‘New Directors to Watch.’ Their work for Johnnie Walker, which aired during the 2017 Grammy’s, took home top prize at the U.S. Hispanic Idea Awards. Their short film for FOX and MARS won a Bronze Lion at the 2018 Cannes Lions, as well as a Silver Lion for their Home Depot Pinterest campaign. They also won a Silver Promax award for their IFC and Portlandia TVC. 

They also only refer to themselves in the third person. It’s called Illeism. Google it.
